The chapter's first group residence was on the 4th floor of the Indiana YMCA. The chapter forms from an already existing group on campus, Omega Chi Fraternity.

In 1959 the name was changed to Indiana State College, and a liberal arts program was begun. In 1957 the college was authorized to offer coursework leading to the Master of Education degree.
In May 1927, by authority of the General Assembly, the State Normal School became a college, with the right to grant degrees. In April 1920, control andOwnership of the school passed to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
